PROJECT SCOPE

This project is constructing street lights and electrical service cabinets in various locations throughout the City.  Locations were selected to fill in gaps within the existing system.

PROJECT SCHEDULE

Construction is planned to wrap up by the end of summer 2025.  

PROJECT FUNDING

The funding for this project includes American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) funds.  

PROJECT UPDATE

February 2025 - Construction is underway for all project locations (see map above).  Trenching, foundation installation, and concrete work continues in these areas.  Shoulder closures and alternating one-way traffic control can be expected to accommodate the work.

Please note that the construction will generally consist of these phases:

  • Underground work (install conduit and prep for foundations)
    • Hoyt Road SW, SW 314th Place, and Dash Point Road SW have completed underground work.  
    • 7th Way SW has completed underground work.
    • On S 373rd Street and S 372nd Way, trenching is complete.  Some driveway crossings still need to be completed.
    • On S 359th Street, driveway crossings for conduit have been completed; trenching will start soon.
  • Concrete (pour the concrete for the foundations and other electrical infrastructure)
    • Hoyt Road SW and SW 314th Place have completed concrete work.
    • Dash Point Road SW is in progress for concrete work.
    • 7th Way SW is in progress for concrete work.
  • Poles (install the light poles)
  • Wiring (install the wiring, perform an electrical inspection, and protect the wiring from theft)
  • Completion (turn on and testing lights, correction of any deficiencies)

The contractor is working to be as efficient as possible, so you may see crews in your neighborhood several different times as they complete each phase of the project.  Feel free to reach out if you have questions!

 

Week of February 3rd (TENTATIVE - some items are also weather dependent) - 

  • Setting and installing electrical boxes and installing driveway crossings on S 373rd Street.
  • Concrete is planned to be poured for electrical boxes on 7th Way SW and Dash Point Road SW.
  • Minor cleanup activities may be performed on Hoyt Road SW, Dash Point Road SW, and 7th Way SW.

Week of February 10th (TENTATIVE) - 

  • Setting and installing electrical boxes and installing driveway crossings on S 373rd Street/S 372nd Way.
  • Excavation for the light pole foundations on S 373rd Street/S 372nd Way may occur.
  • Minor cleanup activities may be performed on Hoyt Road SW, Dash Point Road SW, and 7th Way SW.

Week of February 17th (TENTATIVE) - 

  • Trenching and conduit and electrical box installation may begin on S 359th Street, near 16th Avenue S.
  • Trenching and conduit and electrical box installation may begin on S 359th Street, near SR 99 (Pacific Highway S).
  • Concrete may be poured for light pole foundations and electrical boxes on S 373rd Street/S 372nd Way.
  • Minor cleanup activities may be performed on Hoyt Road SW, Dash Point Road SW, and 7th Way SW.
