While the Cityβs redesigned website was launched with digital accessibility at the forefront of design principles, we understand accessibility is an ongoing journey. The City is dedicated to ensuring the broadest access and seamless interaction for all users, of all abilities. As such, we acknowledge that there is still iterative work and improvements to be made. The City of Federal Way is committed to continuous improvement, refining website accessibility features, embracing feedback, and implementing enhancements as part of our commitment to inclusivity.
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. The City is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard; however, the City has prioritized accessibility conforming to WCAG 2.1 level AA in the broadest and most accessed areas of the website and will continue to expand the reach of that standard.
