Updates: 

  • Bid opening is scheduled for February 24, 2023 at 9:35 am.   
  • 3/22/23 - Council Awarded this project to ICON Materials, the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder.  Once contracts are signed, an agenda with a timeline will be established.   
  • 4/6/23 - Construction will begin on Monday, April 17th on Schedules G and H.  Expect delay's in these areas.
  • 4/19/23 - Grinding/Planning operations will take place starting tomorrow on S 304th St.  Various schedules may have already seen utilities (manholes) being lowered in preparation of upcoming paving.  This work is isolated and does not indicate that paving will soon begin.  Schedule G (25th Dr S) received some concrete demo work to prepare for the upcoming ADA upgrades
  • 5/5/23 - **UPDATE** SW 312th eastbound will have detour during paving on Friday (5/12) and Monday (5/15).
  • 5/31/23 - Grinding and paving is scheduled for Schedule D this week into early next.  Schedule F is currently receiving new ADA ramps and paving will be in the near future.
  • 7/27/23 - The only work is to adjust the isolated survey monuments in the roadway surface.  All other work is complete.  THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE!
  • 5/7/24 - Substantial completion has been issued to the contractor.

Proposed Improvements

The City of Federal Way Asphalt Overlay is an essential street maintenance program in which selected streets are repaved along with the repair and improvement to curb, sidewalks, and curb ramps to meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.

Road Stewardship: Pavement Management Program

The city’s annual overlay program is the largest investment in maintaining the overall pavement condition. The city is able to overlay around 10 lane miles per year.
