Event Description
Join us via Zoom to learn from Melissa Meyer, an indigenous wild foods educator who will help us identify nutritious plants and edible herbs in your own yard!
Knowing the plants growing right outside our doors is one of the most important ways to honor our ancestors and to empower ourselves and our communities. Melissa will talk to us about how to harvest and prepare some easily identifiable and commonly found edible spring greens. The first 75 Federal Way residents that register will receive a wild tea blend to sample and enjoy during the upcoming class.
Melissa Meyer is a trained herbalist and indigenous farmer. She comes from the Tsimshian people in northern B.C, and served as the traditional plants practitioner at the Seattle Indian Health Board for 3 years. For more information about Melissa, check out her family farm website at www.roseislandfarm.com.
